Sorry didn't know where to put this. I wanted to post the complete list of recalled products including products from Health Markets like "Trader Joes"
and health products from Luna, Clif, Nutrasystem, Shaklee etc. Not everyone pays attention to the news so people could be unaware and alot of people eat peanut butter products

Basically if a product has Peanut Butter in it don't eat it, throw it away
This has affected 43 states so far

The FDA announced that a closed Georgia peanut processing plant will recall every single peanut product it made in the past two years. The expansion means that the number of recalled food and pet treats -- already in the hundreds -- will continue to grow.

Health officials today said the recall is among the largest ever. Eight deaths and 501 illnesses in 43 states are now thought to be linked to the salmonella outbreak.

The broadened recall comes after a scathing FDA inspection report suggested the plant in Blakely, Ga., owned by Peanut Corporation of America, knowingly sent out peanut products that may have been tainted with salmonella.

"If this doesn't rise to a criminal level I don't know what does," food safety attorney Bill Marler told ABC News on Wednesday. Marler is suing the company on behalf of one consumer.

Marler's current advice? "I would think twice right now about giving a peanut butter product of any kind to someone under the age of 5 or over the age of 70."

FDA Complete Recall List

I was eating Reese's peanut butter cups when I saw the news come on the tv Saturday, and apparently most of the Salmonella peanut butter came from one of the largest peanut processing factories in GA. I love this state.

and not only did this happen once, but they have been failing test since 2007- wtf??????

I had to dump peanut butter last year, now doing more dumping of the product... short cuts seem to kill us... so save a few bucks and the good ole boy network.... now it has cost lives and millions of dollars.. really?

You're right since 2007. This isn't the first recall of peanut butter. Peter Pan had a huge recall once. What's scary is many children eat this daily
Yeah it's crazy. I don't really have peanut butter products that much and try to avoid processed foods in general
Many people do eat these though. Especially in snack energy bars that are so popular. Just makes me think even more why it's a better choice for me anyway to focus meals on garden fresh foods rather than factory foods. I have alot of food allergies etc so I eliminated most of that and felt healthier
even though I've always been vegetarian. This also goes to show that even stores like Whole Foods are susceptible. The same processed peanut paste was used in their "organic" cookies. Stores like that are supposed to only carry products that are natural, organic, chemical and preservative free. That throws that theory right out the window lol

And even the cookies that were listed in the New Year letter from the band is on this list of recalled foods....

I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning out the cupboard of the foods listed- I had quite a few of the protein and energy bars listed.. that sucks..
I understand big business, but to me you take a short cut and it costs lives, that's not business - that's murder.

Aw that's too bad. That's exactly why I posted the list because there is SO much on it. It's insane. One news station did a probe on local
well known markets and stores listed there and made them pull products off the shelves that they were still selling while they watched!
They had no idea of the full list. So consumer awareness is the key here

I agree Gadina it is. I have 2 little nephews under the age of 5. I know my brother and his wife both dentists with their own practice
are constantly under pressure for time. He says they reguarly give the kids snack bars on the go while in transit and for snacks at daycare
Dry cereals, crackers and energy bars are staples these days for busy parents on the go

Isnt the peanut butter recall over?

Some stores are still selling the products. So buyer beware
Also this goes back for 2 years. So some people might have them in their cabinets

Yes, as far as I know
Unless you have imported foods from us. The plant is in Georgia and their peanut products were purchased by other American factories and
used in their products. The peanut paste especially.It was used in cookies, ice cream, snack bars, crackers, dog snacks etc
It's affected 43 states that we know of. Canada who knows if they have any of our products. For the most part I think it's only the lower 48 states
that this applies to

Worse part of all this is it was reported on the News as well that they KNEW of the contamination and did nothing about it.
I hope they are help accountable for this.

Thank you Christine. I heard they added another 1200 products to the recalled list
and that FEMA had packets of recalled peanut butter in their emergency kits they were sending to KY after the Icestorm
so they had to take those out

It is incomprehensible that they ignored the positve tests. From what they said it was a dirty factory
I've only been to one factory tour in my life and that was the gerber baby food factory... don't laugh
We used to water ski at a lake up there in Michigan. Anyway it was a very sterile environment how they tested everything. They looked like doctors
hats, masks goggles gloves in there around the Vats. We could only view through the glass

The report I saw today said that they did not have to report it to the Feds according to the law. I just feel that there has to be a responsiblity to not misurse the system when it comes to the food we consume. I have cleaned out all the peanut butter- I have had to throw away almost $50.00 worth of stuff.. food bars are the most expensive items and this might explain the stomach cramps at times after eating...

They said it works on the "honor system" because they only have about 600 inspectors. They are supposed to rectify the problem and be responsible
But they weren't. Since this was such a huge contamination, no doubt lawsuits will be flying left and right wherever possible. But I think it
will cause them to revisit regulations on responsibility and reporting positive tests. Seems very hard to be on top of that when they are so
understaffed. Hope they will do something though to create better checks and balances in food safety

I miss peanut butter

Aw you can make your own if you have a food processor

15 ounces unsalted peanuts
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons peanut oil

Place the peanuts, salt and honey into the bowl of a food processor. Process for 1 minute. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Place the lid back on and continue to process while slowly drizzling in the oil and process until the mixture is smooth, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Place the peanut butter in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.

I've never tasted beanut butter. Is it good?

You never tasted it? Yes it's very good Most of us grew up on it, especially me I didn't eat meat
Wow hm how to I describe it lol Do you have Nutella? Even the US has it now
but that has hazelnuts in it so even though that's chocolate it has nut base too. Peanut Butter is very thick but spreads well. Sticks in your mouth when you eat it. It can be creamy or crunchy. Kids love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We call it PB & J for short


Another way to eat it is spread on celery or bananas

Then there are lots of recipes using peanut butter. PB rice crispy treats with chocolate


1 cup white Karo syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
5 cups Rice Krispies
*Favorite chocolate of choice
Bring syrup and sugar to a slow boil. Stir in peanut butter. Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies. Use a spatula to spread in prepared pyrex dish
Let cool slightly. Melt chocolate and spread evenly on top. Treats will harden as they cool.

heh.. I guess it's not a big thing here. I have tasted Nutella and it's so good! So pb tastes like that then..? I've always wondered how Americans put it everywhere (in movies anyway) LOL!

I don't know what else to compare it to, it's not sweet just tastes like pureed peanuts. Can't really compare it to the inside of a Reeses peanut butter cup.. but kinda. That's a gritty sugary peanut butter. Like that I guess but smoother. Have you had a Reese's?

LMAO now I'm thinking about Macaulay Culkin in "Uncle Buck". John Candy(Buck) made his lunch and he asks the other kids at the table

I like Peanut Butter & Honey mixed together, and then I dipp apple slices in it.

I think cripsy apples are better; um like Gala Apples or if you want to pucker with every bite Granny Smith are yummy too. But I dont think I will be eating any peanut butter for awhile.

The US hauled the owner of this company before a Congressional committee to testify what happened and he refused to testify
That probably won't go over too well when 9 people DIED and hundreds in 43 states have fallen ill because of his deliberate distribution of tainted products
They had a container full of the recalled products and he was asked if he would eat any of those foods in front of everyone...he declined
