Well I'd assume if someone is getting fired for lying it would be a work related lie so yes. Telling your co-worker or boss you had steak when you really had chicken for dinner the night before, not so much...

It depends on what the employee has lied about. If it is strictly work then I think it is fair to fire them. Some the relationship between employee and employer is built on trust and how can you trust a member of your team if there is no trust.

Isn`t there supposed to be like a disciplinary procedure before you actually fire someone? Give them a chance first?
