Places To Stay:

The one on St Mary's Street is the one to use as the others are too far out unless you are planning to drive/bus in. One thing I would say is St Mary's Street is very noisy at night because it's full of nightclubs and bars but since it's a Sunday it shouldn't be too bad.
For hostels I hear this is a good site:

And for hotels I've found this to be good in the past:

Transport
Driving:
Toll Charge: The toll charge is actually £5.40 and yes you need to have cash, they won't except anything else. For all other vehicles the charges can be found here: http://www.severnbridge.co.uk/toll_prices.shtml
Rail:
If you're travelling in by train, there are no direct services to Queen's Street Station which is the one closest to the venue, you either need to get off at Central and walk or change at Central. It's really not far to walk though so it's best to get off at Central.
Air:
Taxis from the airport cost a fortune (like they do in every other city) so it's best to get a bus in since there is no rail service from the airport. There is a regular bus service to and from the airport into the centre and info can be found here: http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=1697
Parking
Due to the continuing roadworks driving through the city is a bit of a nightmare at the moment, it may be better by February but just to warn you! There are lots of places to park. If you don't mind a bit of a walk good street parking can be found at the back of the University Student Union, the majority are student houses and I've never had a problem parking there. Parking around the Museum and City Hall is free after 6pm and it's also worth checking the car parks around the CIA as some of them become cheap after 5pm. The CIA does not have it's own designated car park.
Thank you to kate30stm for the above info!
