Flights:
Easyjet flies from London Gatwick to Helsinki, so if you can fly with easyjet to London and onward to Helsinki it's probably the cheapest option for people coming from other european countries. And if you dont happen to have money problems, Finnair flies straight to Helsinki from a lot of places. And also you can catch Ryan Air, though it flies to Tampere. But you can get a shuttle bus from there straight to Helsinki. It takes about 4 hours. But thats another cheap way.

Public transportation to the venue:
From the Airport to the center:
Take the 615 bus. It goes straight to the Railway Station.
From Railway Station to the venue:
You can get the 3T tram from near the Railway station or then busses 63, 194 and 362 but you have to walk a bit. Not too far though. Or if you take a cab it was only about 11euros I think from the train station the last time we took it. So if youre coming in a group its almost the same AS public transportation. But you should ask the price before taking one. Publictransportation is 2euros one way.

Last time a lot of people stayed at the Stadion Hostel which is pretty much next to the venue and its not too expensive and the rooms from what I saw were very nice.

The other hostels are a bit further like 20min walk and tram ride away. But theyre pretty decent price, especially if you want to see the city, then those are right in the middle.
