This thread is offered as a reasonable discussion and to possibly bring about some resolutions to the obvious bullying that occurs on these fourms.

Internet bullying is a form of personal attack which employs threats, pressure and intimidation through the avenues of internet technology. The bullying may take place by the use of messaging sites, blogs, online forums, electronic mail and other means of cyber technology. When internet bullying takes place, its victims are harassed, intimidated and are left with damaged reputations.

Internet bullying is also sometimes called cyberbullying or digital bullying. This type of harassment has become prevalent together with the rise of cyber technology. People now live in a world without borders. Almost everyone is connected through the internet. Data and information travel at a fast rate. Internet bullying therefore takes the concept of bullying to a much higher level. A single person's small act of maligning someone can reach hundreds of people in a split-second.

There are many methods of internet bullying. It can range from the mere mention of mean words to something more dangerous such as death threats. Internet bullies may use crude, offensive and vulgar language in an attempt to affect the personal status and condition of their victims. The attack may be direct or indirect. Direct attacks are done when the attacker directly communicates the harrying words to the victim. On the other hand, indirect attacks are made through the online posting of malicious writings or commentaries.

Feel fee to offer encouragement and understanding and other forms of teaching those being bullied and not just on these forums, but all over the internet and through text messages, emails, etc...

To some extent, I guess? I don't know if I'd consider it bullying or not. Interesting topic.

However, I would suggest removing the first line or so as it will undoubtedly cause stuff happening in the thread you don't want. If you would like unbiased opinions, you might want to shift your topic to be somewhat less pointed.

Just a thought.

I will contribute more later.

Anyway, whatever. There's a bit of time before my show comes on.

Again, as I said, I don't know if I'd consider whatever-it-is that has happened as 'cyber-bullying' as such. But I suppose in a mild way, it was? I don't tend to give a rat's ass about arguments or sarcasm or whatever the hell. I'd like to think I have a thick skin for a lot of things, and I tend to find a lot of stuff funny. There have been very few times where I've been in an actual text conversation (either on here or IM) where someone has really upset me or pissed me off. But there have been a couple. A couple people have said some really shitty things, and it made me pretty uncomfortable. There was a period of time on here where I actually felt really, really uncomfortable posting. Photos or not.

I've had a ton of rumours spread around about me on this forum, so it was a bit weird being part of that. While I realize the internet is 'out there' and all that shit, I generally tend to stay within these forums, so stupidly or not, I felt fairly 'safe' in here. So when that whole thing kind of starts to turn on you (seriously, people I KNEW believed this shit) then it really does make you wonder. Of course, some of it is just gossip, and people are just curious and they like drama. But some of it is just weird.

There have been times when people have said some really personal shit that I wasn't a fan of, so that kinda sucked. There are certain topics and things that people just shouldn't say, in my mind.

I'd have to say the weirdest one was when I was told about a bunch of people I didn't know, that I'd never really talked to, who were using another social platform to say a bunch of shit about me. Honestly, you have nothing better to do than talk crap about people you don't know? That one seriously boggled my mind. And due to the nature of the topic, it just made me feel awful. I mean, it shouldn't have, but man, that was crappy.

But as for the cyber-bullying where it's 'random dude who just starts stalking you on myspace' or whatever? Yeah, none of that. It's more of an issue for me when it's a place you hang out in often (ie a specific forum) or if it's someone that knows you/etc. If it's random, I'd like to think it's pretty easy to ignore.

I could have sworn this thread existed previously. Not just in the nauseating amount of posts about the subject, but literally a thread about this very same thing, like verbatim.

But, uh, on to topic : If you don't give me your lunch money, I'll give you a wedgie/wet willy ...whichever frightens you more.

When I was about 2 years old, an online biker gang assaulted me on this forum. Luckily I had gone through puberty at that point and was 18 feet tall, weighing 2000 pounds, so I tracked their IP and beat the fuck out of them with their moustache.

Internet bullying is a serious matter: I will beat the salt out of any of you who tries to act tough up in this bitch. Wurd out, peace in.

Rawr. I think I'll withhold my lunch money just to see if that's a bunch of smack.

For the record, I hate you, but I so lol'd at that post ~ esp the bolded.

As for internet bullying.. I dunno - the idea is a little funny to me because I just don't understand why some folks have such thin skin. Water off a duck's back and all that.. At the same time, I do understand some folks don't deal well with ANY type of negativity or personal mocking.

Now if it's full on internet STALKING, then that's a different - and creepier story.

Of course it is, some people seem to need an ignore button to do this, if you don’t want to engage in conversation with someone just fucking ignore them.

I can't tell if that's a username or if you're making some cryptic reference to the gameboy game.

Internet bullying... There's a thing called the 'block' button. I think people should notice that instead of putting up with badly typed insults. huh.gif

That's actually exactly what I came in to say Bekki.

Having said that, I'm not sure I speak my mind enough online to be bothered by cyber bullies.

Fail. He's more entertaining than you. You're not a bully anyway, just an ass.

wub.gif I'm only including that emote to keep the tone of the thread. I really mean it - you're an ass.

Or let the insults get to them in the first place.

It's moments like these that are the reason you're my other half.
