Police have been searching for blond-haired, blue-eyed Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, 20, since she went missing from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, Virginia on the evening of Saturday, October 17.
Campaign website findmorgan.com said Harrington's parents were offering 100,000 dollars for the safe return of their daughter or for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for her disappearance.
"The Band Metallica is also adding an additional 50,000 dollars to the reward bringing it to 150,000 dollars for Morgan's safe return or information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Morgan's disappearance," it said.
Metallica has also posted an appeal on its official website along with photos of Harrington under the headline, "One Of Our Fans Is Missing."
"She was not carrying ID or a cell phone. Morgan was separated from her friends shortly before 9:00 pm at the venue."
Metallica urged anyone with information regarding the disappearance to come forward and also asked fans to check if Harrington can be seen in their photos and video footage from the concert
Keep this in mind Echelon, look out for each other when at concerts. Please carry your ID and phones with you.

We are deeply concerned about the disappearance of 20 year old Virginia Tech student Morgan Dana Harrington, who was last seen while attending our concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA, on Saturday night.
Morgan has blonde hair and blue eyes, is 5'6", 120 lbs., and was wearing a black "Pantera" T-shirt, black skirt, and black boots. She was not carrying I.D. or a cell phone. Morgan was separated from her friends shortly before 9pm at the venue. Police have been searching the area since Monday.
We encourage anyone who has any information regarding Morgan's disappearance to please come forward. Additionally, if you or anyone you know shot video footage or took photos of the concert or audience, please check to see if there is anyone in your photos who might resemble Morgan. Please contact the Virginia State Police at (434) 352-3425 or the UVA Police at (434) 352-3467 or police@virginia.edu. if you have any information.

Our thoughts are with Morgan and her family for her safe return.
This information was from their site, I think it very generous and caring of the band to get involved in this situation.

Who doesn't carry ID with them nowadays, though? Seems odd, but I guess maybe because the drinking age here is 19, I'm just used to having it with me. That, and I drive everywhere.

Goes without saying that I hope she's ok, but I don't think it's looking too hopeful

Well in my head I'm too young, unfortunately in real life I'm 35
Never wanted to drive, even the thought of it scares the life out of me.

Still cool that the band would do something like this
Hope they find her fast.

She had left the arena mid-show for some reason and tried to get back in, however, the arena has a strict no re-entry policy for concerts, and she was told she couldn't come back in (I guess the reason why she didn't have her ID or cell phone, and therefore couldn't contact her friends inside, is because they had her stuff INSIDE and she couldn't go get it.) so she was seen wandering around outside the arena for a little while then was later seen on a nearby bridge.
They are searching the area under the bridge now.
I still don't think think this is going to have a good outcome . . . she's just kind of went *poof* into thin air and has been missing for 2 weeks.

Thank You for the update, this poor girl and her family have been on my mind. I pray that they will have some form of closure soon, whether her safe return(however unlikely) or they find her body.

8:20 - 8:48 PM: Someone matching Morgan Harrington's description was seen outside John Paul Jones Arena parking lot by the ticket office and on the University Hall side.
8:48 PM: Morgan calls a friend inside the arena, discusses trying to get back in. Tells her friend that she will get a ride home from friends around Charlottesville.
8:48 - 9:00 PM: Morgan is still spotted outside the arena. Police say they have no indication she re-entered the building.
9:00 - 9:10 PM: Someone matching Morgan's description was seen walking through the University Hall parking lot. Nobody saw her with someone, but there were other people walking in the same direction.
9:10 - 9:20 PM: Someone matching Morgan's description was seen in the Lannigan Field parking area near the track. This parking lot is used for overflow parking for arena events. The person matching Morgan's description had limited interaction with people who were at the parking area.
9:20 PM: The people who witnesses the person matching Morgan's description left the area.
9:20 - 9:30 PM: The person matching Morgan's description was seen on the Copeley Road Bridge near Ivy Road. The last spotting of Morgan Harrington was at 9:30 PM near the intersection of Copeley Rd. and Ivy Rd.

Coming from having deliver those messages, it is not what anyone wants to do. Thats every parents worst nightmare and her poor family is living it daily. Maybe you should show your son the website put up by her family. I know we all have the same thoughts, that she made some bad decisions that possibly contributed to her disappearance, but that does not change the fact that she is missing and her family is living in hell right now.

So true dvl i can just imagine what her parents , family and freinds are now going through .
I have told my idiot son many times what a hellish time it is to watch wait and wonder and a simple phone call just takes minutes !!!

I sure hope this story made them realised how tard (and dangerous) this policy really is.
It s bin 2 weeks...and i m kind of agreeing with you...dont think we ll get a good outcome...sadly.

Unfortunately, I also agree that the hope in finding her safe is dwindling. The issue about venues not allowing re-entry is something that should really be re-evaluated.
I doubt very seriously letting one female who is all alone back into a venue, would cause some major issue.

I went to a concert with a couple of my friends last year. Now, I don't drink, at ALL, so I was stone cold sober through the whole thing. Unfortunately, I was either battling the flu, or (which is what I think happened) got some sort of food poisoning. So during the show, I ended up going into the bathroom and puking. Generally between sets, haha. But it was one of those things where I was sick and then felt fine afterwards, then it would come back and I'd end up throwing up again.
Unfortunately, the last time I was throwing up the girl who was working security heard me. Apparently if you throw up, you get thrown out. No questions asked. So she's trying to literally throw me out of the venue. I told her I wasn't drunk because I don't drink, but she didn't care. I asked if I could go tell my friends what happened and that I wasn't coming back (because hello, they were waiting for me to come back) and at first she said no, then when I was persistent she said okay, but when I couldn't find them, she just tried to get me to leave again.
I was pretty pissed, so I told her that I probably had food poisoning, I wasn't drinking, etc. Eventually she allowed me to go with the paramedic dude who took me into the room where other sick people were. He asked me 4 questions, realized I was telling the truth, gave me a bottle of water and let me go back to the concert.
But I kept thinking to myself, what the heck would have happened if I got thrown out? No one would have known where I was. I didn't have my friend's cell # with me to let her know. I'm not even sure I had MY cell with me at the time. And if I actually was drunk, they were going to basically toss a single 24 year old girl out on the streets of Toronto, drunk. WTF.
I get not wanting to deal with all the drunk people. I get having to kick people out. But good lord. I wasn't being disruptive, I obviously wasn't hammered, and I was by myself.
How safe is that?
