Aside from the obvious that struggle, either expressed in form of the "survival of the fittest" or a more humanist view is an essential part of simply living life, I just want to point out this link for newer fans, to whom the "war" theme might seem as something new in the mars universe. The Art of War.
And yes the rest is up to the band to elaborate on.

i'm sure it's because you bear the intelligence of someone older than you, perhaps the same age as a lot of us here, but you're actually quite young, still. it's very admirable, my dear.

Well I did get married at age 38, so there is still good ahead, but also got divorced at 42, so that bites again...keeping the cosmic in balance I guess
