Ok, so at my school there is an enviormentalist group. We have established a plan to spread everywhere that will really help the world if just half of you do it and spread the message.
Over the summer that is soon aproaching, we need everyone to just take one afternoon of your life to plant ANYTHING. Get a garden going, plant a tree, plant a bush. It doesn't matter where you plant it, or what it is, just get some oxegen back in the air.
Even if you can't do that, just donate 5 bucks to somewhere, or give your friend 20 bucks to have them plant something.
I know this is original, but think about how many times you've heard this, and how many times you haven't done anything. We need to keep it going.

Now if only 100 of all the people on this fourm does this and spreads the word, suddenly that will be 1000 and then 10000. Boom, right there we have 10000 more trees. So just get off your lazy butt and do something that's worth something. That's why you're here right?

Nice idea!
I like to plant, and see how things grows.
I will go out and plant something...I have brought a rose that I will plant today.
Ooch...some may will get pissed off for that. Just warn you. smile.gif

I love this idea. I've been needing someone to tell me to get up and actually do something, but that last part really hit me. It goes with the title of this thread: A Challenge for all.

Here's the only thing though. We humans are a greedy and self-centered race. So, besides moral gratification, we need more incentive. Most people aren't motivated by the thought of a pat on the back - Thats why the USgovernment offers "rewards" for switching to greener options. What can we offer people on here as a further incentive?

I haven't seen that at ikea here... Will have to check this summer. My brother's moving out of the parent's house, so I'm sure we'll be visiting ikea...

And I don't think our backyard needs any more plants... It already looks like a jungle out there. Been thinking about getting wildflower seeds and spreading them next to the route my bus takes to school. So I can see the results every day. But no clue when you need to spread those, so it might have to wait a while... Gonna check next week hopefully.

I like it. Such a good idea. If only we could get more people to do something.

I'm very sorry if I offeneded anyone with my last senctence...I wasn't exactly having the best day ever when i wrote it >.> But i do think that it is a hard fact that some people need to hear. Many people do research and get motavated, but never really act on it....so i apologize if it was offensive :3

So wonderful that you are doing this! About a two months ago, we did the same thing in Tacoma - bought over $600 in baby shrubbery, flowers & ground cover plants, and lovingly planted them along the sidewalks of the public streets in our neighborhood. I currently live by a college, so there are lots of people always walking or jogging by. Every single person that came by us gave positive remarks, which actually surprised me as I sorta felt like we were invading someone's property (even though we weren't). Some exclaimed how happy they were that somebody was actually doing something to spruce up the areas, and how they thought about doing the same thing. Others thanked us for getting rid of previous "eye sores" they had to go by every day. A few of the neighbors inquired about us doing their yards once we finished. It was a pretty rewarding experience.
