Lack of environmentally friendly practices at shows.

After seeing the amount of plastic bottles that went into the trash yesterday... I would like to see Recycling done at ANY future 30 Seconds to Mars show...even if the Echelon has to bring its own bags. If the venue is not willing to commit to providing the services, then we need to step up. If there is a problem with people “digging” into the trash...then perhaps someone could contact future venues to have collection point set into place prior.
Besides, any funds from the recycling could be placed towards the various Echelon charities and projects.

See above for why I left this place before.
@#$% heads like you that don't have anything better to do than to slag other people.
For your information, I did manage to pick up about 5 or 6 plastic bottles from the people around me and bring them back to my vehicle.
YES, It is a monumental task, but it is one that can be done!
Sustainability is not something that people take for granted anymore. Yeah, it sucks if you happen to be the poor bastard that is hauling a bag of bottles out of a canyon after a clean up. However, most businesses now are looking at ways to integrate “green” practices to their everyday operations.
I guess I would like to see a few others who, when the time comes, are interested giving it a shot.

Problem was there were cups all over outside where many were too lazy to walk to a garbage recepticles.
Good thing at least the staff cleans up after the shows.

I like your idea, I think its something Echelon should give some attention at. Try to keep the 30stm shows as clean as possible (without working ourself to death) beacuse we not only like them and thier music, we have also shown that we love the enviroment. What if we could make 30stm concerts to be cleanest conserts of all?
Here is it very ordinary to have volunteers at festilvals who picks up bottles, and then I mean a lot of bottles. So why cant we?
But yes, its not only at festivals and concerts we need to get this fucking wrong placed bottles attention. But its a start.

And Ross has a point. Don't bitch and moan if you aren't willing to just do it your fucking self.

I agree though that this isn't really an "Echelon" thing as opposed to a "local" thing. Talk to your city council about making venues regulate waste consumption have more recycling receptacles available. Bouncers/security could ask remind people on the way in about it. Little things make the difference.
I'm not sure if any of this REALLY makes much sense, as I'm just kind of rambling and sleepy and throwing ideas off the top of my head.

I don't see it as that much of a request, I'm surprised clubs and concert venues aren't being cracked down on for their recycling though. homes and businesses here all have to do it, why wouldn't bars and restaurants? My city even has weekly compost pick up along with recyclables and garbage for homes, I don't know about restaurants but that would be great if they did too.

why didn't you pick up all the shit yourself?
yeah, kidding or not....that's rude.
I asked the same question at my job. I want to bring in a box or something so ppl can recycle. I'll have to haul it to my home every Friday for the following Monday but hopefully I start this within the next 5 months. the amount of plastic disposed in one day just from water or micro meals is crazy, imo..... and there are only, like, 10 of us, too.

my work place was amazing, we recycled everything just short of composting and it was a fairly large company.

I concur and practice - Act Local - Think Global
As for this being an Echelon thing... WHEN we get tour dates...Hell yeah it is!
It will be ON! Imagine that press release. “Fans who CARE!”
Now we just wait for tour dates...

I third.
Clearly, abandoned trash and lack of recycling is a question at almost every site, but one big answer isn't going to work for all of them immediately.
If the people who give a shit get together and have *some* plan before an event, we can at least put a dent in it.
Count me in for SoCal shows.

There have definately been some people picking up trash during the 08 euro shows. Plus I know the venue in Hamburg used hard plastic cups that were picked up and used again (I still have one sitting in my room that I forgot to bring back).
But maybe when we get dates again people can say in the roll call if they're willing to help out with bringing trash bags etc. to the show.

Ditto, except we do have bins to collect compostable items too
