I am curious how "The Summit" falls inline with the professed "green" ethic of 30STM?

Don't get me wrong, I think it is wonderful to allow a chance for fans to participate in the creation of the record, but to have people coming from all over the world for a few hours of play seems a bit extravagant, especially in a world where sustainability has entered our awareness.

I am confused by the words expressed by 30STM and the actions that follow. There is an inconsistency that cannot be ignored. It appears that they are "A Beautiful Lie" - that they a part of the illusion their words seek to expose. Ironic.

I apologize in advance for upsetting anyone - that is not my intention. It just doesn't make sense, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

I hope they don't use toiletpaper because this would be very bad for the environment. Think of all the trees they're wiping their asses with! mad.gif sad.gif

Iota, I personally think the answer is: they are a band, not Greenpeace.
I think some fans and media misinterpreted the bands engagement of wanting to cause awareness to an important topic (and use a clever way to promote their single along the way), with them turning extreme-eco. They are going with a mix of being responsible without turning into greenies.

I agree.

Do you want them to only tour in North America with a green bus and stop flying to other countries to perform?

I understand where you're coming from. Fact is, we can't stop living and having fun. We have to try to do it as responsibly as possible. If people didn't travel to LA... or travel period, there would never be um... experience? You know?
Life is a balance of resource. What people can do is travel together as much as possible, and donate to programs that help negate carbon emissions, or just go out and plant some trees, right?

Direct travel with purpose is still a good thing. I don't think we are here to tie our hands behind our backs and watch the world roll by. Just... what we do, we should do with intent, with consciousness of our own impact upon the world as we do them. And, to take responsibility for that impact.

Yeah, no need to keep a tight rubber band around your head.

Are you out of your bloody mind?

First off, they're not paying for people to show up. They're not flying private jets around the world to get everyone. People are choosing to go because they can. Should people not book vacations, or take flights anywhere? Would you like to cripple the airline industry even more and have more people laid off? Should they ban people from other places from seeing their concerts, too? YOU CAN ONLY COME IF YOU CAN WALK, BIKE, OR CARPOOL FROM 20KMS AWAY.

Obviously those are supremely extreme and somewhat tongue-in-cheek examples, but my god.
