Ok, I know some will yell at me for making this thread, because it's a personal question. But next week it will be exactly a year since my dog died and I really miss having a pet. I'm 25 and of those 25 years I've only been without a dog for 2 years. Once when I was 6 and now.
So I've been looking online for dogs to adopt, even though I feel like it's way too soon. And then I wondered how others feel about pets.

So that's basically my motivation for making this thread tongue.gif Now onwards to the questions!!

1: I know Jared used to have 2 dogs. Do you miss having a dog (or a pet in general)? Would you want to adopt one again and why or why not? smile.gif

2: I think Tomo has at least one cat? Do you ever take pictures of it and add funny captions? biggrin.gif Do you have other pets or do you stick with cats?

3: I have no idea what kind of pet Shannon has... A goldfish named Sparky? blink.gif What kind of pet would you want? (besides a goldfish...)

4: Say you want to adopt a new dog... Would you choose a healthy puppy or a dog from the ASPCA?

No idea if they'll ever answer, but I think talking about their pets is cool. smile.gif I'd like to know myself.

And just one leeetle point - you can adopt a healthy pet from the ASPCA or other rescue org. I did. biggrin.gif I firmly believe in adopting pets and spaying/neutering.

I was looking for dogs and I saw a lot of dogs that had some kind of problem...

11 or 12 year old dogs whose owners suddenly became allergic or went to a nursing home, a fat jack russell terrier, a puppy with 1 eye, puppies who were transported illegally but were intercepted so they have no background history (and probably will have some problems when they get older) and dogs who were used for animal testing sad.gif

So the thought of getting a healthy dog never crossed my mind laugh.gif

Ohhh, I gotcha.

It takes a special level of dedication to choose a pet with health or psychological issues. I fully admit that while I wish I could do that, I'm only one person, so I couldn't. Of course, there's nothing to say that my little darling might not get ill at some point, and of COURSE I'd take care of her, but I get what you mean and I think you get what I mean. I hope. Haha.

Normally I wouldn't care about personal questions but since I'm a dog nut (I have 5) I want these answered.
...as for adoption, I tried w/ my first 2 dogs but they turned me down cause I didn't have a fence sad.gif
but all is good I love my boys! smile.gif

my dog i have at home is adopted.
she was abused before we got her, and she is still pretty crazy because of it.
but she is a great dog, even if she is crazy.
plus, she is insanely smart.

(I have two lovely dogs myself)

I'm kind of curious if Jared has or is wanting to get a new dog. I know I got another dog a few months after Dogzilla (yes that was her name thanks to my brother) had passed. My aunt got another dog around the same time frame too.

Elvira I'm 25 too and I don't think I've EVER been without a dog. There was Sandy whom my parents had shortly before I was born, another whom sadly died suddenly, then my baby Ariel and her daughter Dogzilla. Then mom's dog Ami and now mine Roxie.

I've got two cats, & a dog I rescued from the Houston SPCA. Luv my puppy, even though she's beyond energetic and still likes to jump up on people dry.gif lol she's 2 and I'm still working with her on it laugh.gif

In our house total theres my two cats, two dogs, and a turtle happy.gif

*a little off topic* but i can't believe there's a year since your dog pass away, i still remember that and how hard was for you.
I've had cats since a was a child, the first one was a gift from my parents friends; i've taken from the street the others. Here still many cats are abandoned in the streets when they grow up...

I would like to see them answered, Nice questions Elvira smile.gif

I Love animals and i have a dog and a horse on part loan and we're thinking about adopting another dog from the RSPCA. I hate that place it makes me so sad and personally i think it would be better to adopt pets even though my dog isnt.

I love the questions, Elvira. Hope we get one or two answered!

My sister got her cat Gabriel from the shelter. He'd been tied up in the back yard on a cat leash while his owners toddled off on holiday. They figured he could catch food while he was outside. Unfortunately he panicked and got caught up in the leash which then started to grow into the skin under his front leg. When they found him he was barely alive, missing bits of his ears and nose, covered in scratches and wounds (probably got into fights with other cats and was severely disadvantaged because he couldn't run away) and needed four surgeries to fix him up even a bit. He picked my sister as his new owner as soon as she walked into the sickbay area at the animal shelter. smile.gif She's never regretted taking him home. He's a lovely puss-cat.

I got my cats from a guy who'd decided, after two years, that cats "really weren't his thing" and since he was barely home he figured he'd either dump them in the woods or give them to the first person who came along and showed interest. Yeah, that was me. They've destroyed three couches, 7 flower vases, a few handbags, countless plants, a few books and all of my clothes are covered in cat hair but I wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China.

[Oh, sorry, I fully realize that Elvira's questions are for the band but I didn't actually answer any of the questions, I just babbled so it's okay] tongue.gif

Nice questions there Elvira wink.gif
Hope you will be able give a pet a home soon, so you can cuddle again, I know how it's like to say goodbye to one that has been there most of your life...huggles

Most of the cats that have lived with me are rescue cats and I did a lot of volunteer work with animals before, so I know how gratifying it can be to give a pet a new lease on life and see them open up to people after sometimes having gone through horrifying things in their previous lives...I just gives you all fuzzy warm feelings to see a battered cat come up to you for the first time and start to purr again or even rub their head against your leg. It shows they still have some kind of trust.

Hope you/we will get to see these questions being answered at some point.

I'm in search for a cat at the moment. Not to have a pet around drives me crazy. Litterly.

I've had cats since the day I was born non-stop and three dogs with some time between. And then suddenly I have nothing. It's depressing really.

Once you cat, you can't go back. tongue.gif

But yes, seriously, I completely understand, Jenn-I, I can't imagine my life without them now.

QFT.

Dogs just don't do it for me at all (sorry, Jared). For some reason, I can imagine Shannon being a cat person.

I love both. But I've had about 5 cats, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 3 fire salamanders, 5 fishies (two types of Gold fishies and one cleaning slimey thing), then when i was a kid my parents had a farm so alot of cows. Been around horses alot but never owned one. I'm an animal person. But not much of a reptile one though (I know they're animals too...)

As I said to Russty, who has both dogs and cats - there are two main reasons I don't like cats, except to visit them.

1) Cats don't CARE if you exist, for the most part. A dog clearly wants human company.

But even more importantly...

2) CATS WILL EAT YOU IF YOU DIE. It's a fact. And while yeah, if you're dead, it doesn't matter... sorry, I didn't make it to the top of the food chain to just become cat chow. tongue.gif
