Hello all,

Thought I'd join up today to let you guys know about my band MIDGAR, after so many people telling us at shows that we should be playing with bands like 30 Seconds To Mars... ( laugh.gif ... huh.gif ... likely! hehe! )

We've noticed a lot of our fans rate 30 Seconds to Mars which is great as they're pulling off an epic sound and massive music video's that we'd love to achieve in MIDGAR if only we had the budget! smile.gif Here's a little bit about us, if you're still reading!

- - - - - - - -

MIDGAR are a five piece rock band in the vein of Neon Ballroom'esque Silverchair with contemporary original drumming and touches of the English southern emotional rock sound. Both our vocalists have been likened to Daniel Johns of Silverchair, Terry Abbot of Vex Red and some comparisons to Brandon Boyd of Incubus. All of our members have toured nationally with respected acts, while our bass player has toured internationally in support acts such as Smashing Pumpkins and Biffy Clyro.

We have until now taken the DIY approach to managment, live shows and promotion - playing over 30 nationwide UK shows (24 sold out), releasing a highly acclaimed EP with a respected UK producer, secured a full band artist endorsement from Yamaha and gained the respect of recognised UK promoters. MIDGAR came 2nd in the UK National final of the Sony/RCA judged GBOB Global Battle Of The Bands Competition 2008 and we've also played showcase shows at the request of Roadrunner Records, Sony/RCA and BMG, Island Records, Visible Noise Records and Victory Records US.

In only a year we have gained respect in all aspects of our progress and are looking to make 2009 a pivotal year for MIDGAR.

- - - - - - - -

If any of you fancy hearing or seeing what we do, please head over to www.midgarmusic.com and there are links to everything from there! This isn't just a 'who we are' post either, we're human and looking to get involved a lot more online, so come say hello - we always reply!

Hope you're all well and smiling! biggrin.gif

Dare I say you are a quite good looking band?! smile.gif Enjoyed Flying a Kite in New Orleans, is there a studio recording of this one as well?
If you stick around we could always suggest you as an opening band for a following UK tour of thirty seconds to mars.

I agree with that too Maren, laugh.gif

Hey Mabo,

Thanks again! smile.gif

'Flying A Kite In New Orleans' is still fairly new. It is being recorded for our second EP, but so far we've only tracked the drums for it - decent studio time in London costs a lot, and although worth it, we're waiting to raise a bit more from some shows before we head back in to finish it. I can however offer you a copy of the acoustic version of that song that I produced in-house? Vincent's Masquerade is available in acoustic arrangement too.

They are available on an exclusive CD that we were giving away at our hometown show last Friday, but I'm sure I can email copies of those tracks to you if you like? just bung me an email address! smile.gif That goes for others too!

Just want to add, thank you for not flaming and shooting me down on the advertising front!

A much as I am advertising and pushing my band, we're not here just trying to take your money - we're as much here to share what we're doing, so if anyone fancies any of the acoustic tracks or Terminate Dream Sequence (another full band track that I can pass on), then just ask! smile.gif

There will be a live CD soon, which I'm sure I can pass on a few tracks from! wink.gif

Oh yes didn't see that you were london based. Can imagine that studio time is a bit costlier there than in your neighbour's garage. wink.gif Even though I would come and pick that cd up myself, I heard swimming through the channel is quite cold theses days, so I would love to hear an acoustic version and whatever else you got to offer. will drop you a pm with an email addy later this day. thanks for offering.

...and no worries about promoting your band. you posted in the right sub section of the board, rob that's all people ask for. if you wouldn't have mentioned that you are playing in the band no one would have known anyway and just assumed you came across some music you considered worth sharing with others.

Hey Rob, just an FYI: I purchased your EP smile.gif

I really love your music; it's fantastic. I definitely hear undertones of Daniel Johns in your vocalist's voice, and the musical arrangements are very reminiscent of silverchair, as you have mentioned. It's really no surprise that I like your music given the heavy, apparent influence the 'chair had on you, because they are my all-time favorite band.

I really like Vincent't Masquerade, and A Thousand Eyes. Oh, hells, let's just say I like them all and be done with it!! biggrin.gif

GREAT work. Keep it up, and I will be keeping my eye on your band for quite some time to come.

Cool, as long as I'm keeping you long time forumers happy, then I'm happy! biggrin.gif Only reason I mentioned I'm in the band I guess is that it's just a pretty genuine post from me, rather thasn a sneaky advertising ploy.

I'm re-ripping the CD at a slightly lower rate as the files are slightly too large to attach to an email at the mo! - I'm on it though! Feel free to pass these tracks on to your friends too! smile.gif

Many thanks! biggrin.gif

I'll get our merch guy to get on it ASAP!

Silverchair are by far my favorite band of all time, Neon Ballroom and Diorama being my favorite albums of all time, absolutely epic - watching the making of video's make me shiver every time! Was lucky enough to be VIP at all 4 London shows in a row on the Diorama tour!

honestly it's always more fun to know that one actually has the chance to deliver feedback right to the artist. it's much more personal this way and I'm under the impression that both sites earn the most from it. right, I'm out for a lunch break now and will get back to you later about those songs, so take your time. exciting. smile.gif saw you guys have a myspace and I'll will, unless I forget again, make sure to befriend you once I log in there, to get all the future updates.

hehe, Hey Viki!

Thanks!

I know Aldershot well - we practice there a fair bit actually! tongue.gif

We are yet to play the Wesy, but when we do - I'll let you know! I've seen loads of good bands there :- Reuben, Hundred Reasons, Biffy Clyro... Its had some good names in for a smaller venue!

I have to say, the acoustics are amazing.
The vocals are superb, and the instrumentals are so fitting and well performed.

Oh no! Umm, just checked it myself and it sems to be working... unsure.gif

Our webman is in London today, I'll have to ask him about it later. You could try clearing your cache or something, that sometimes works for me?

Thanks loads! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I love production, especially when the band are nice and easy to work with!

We've had them put forward for publishing opportunities so we'll see if we can get them bunged onto some cheesy American teen drama's or something! wink.gif
