Hello, I very love this little island, the people there and its wonderful nature, that's why I would like to draw your attention of once again to that what happens now in Iceland. Apart from the fact that the financial policy brought the island to the edge of a state boycott, the nature will be exploited there to actuate foreign aluminium corporations (wow, the stream is sooo cheap here!! mad.gif ) I have found this side here where you can inform you, so I think, quite well:

http://savingiceland.puscii.nl/?page_id=23&language=en

I have also seen that some people from Iceland have written here already in the forum. Maybe you can write topically news from there?? I feel sick if I realize that this little paradise should fall victim not only to the climate changes but also to quick monetary making...

No, please, don't!!! ohmy.gif

It's not just Iceland that having huge issues due climate changes and financial problems.
Greenland is having a bad time as well.

People that are living on the fishing industry is starving because there's no fish and no fish means no money. And as the world looks today, there's going to be more downhills for poor countries that is in need of hat nature has to offer.

It's sad to see what happens to Iceland though. I know they're not very happy at the Nordic because no one really helped them out as Denmark is not helping Greenland now either.

It's sad to see this happen.

You are right everybody. The Icelanders really have massive problems at time (thank you for the link, bluehorizon) and, unfortunately, they are not the only ones... I have just heard from a joke, which they make now in Ireland: "What is the difference between Ireland and Iceland? - a letter and 6 months!". That is called gallows humor then ... *grumpy*

Btw, the Icelandic author Andri Snær Magnason has made the film "Dreamland" (supported by Björk) about the environmental destruction for the benefit of the foreign aluminium factories. Already the trailer is floating massively tears in the eyes...

Oh gosh that joke with an unfortunate ring of truth as the world deals with the impact of the financial crisis
It was the Nationalization of Icelands banks and the collapse of their currency that put them over the edge
The US should take note for real

Thanks for the link on that video. Such a beautiful landscape and yes factories can do so much damage

Pray, pray and pray for everyone in peril. Then have faith our prayers will be answered.
We just have to believe this will all get better and be thankful for what we DO have.

I love Iceland and it is so sad that it suffers so greatly now. I love also Icelandic band Sigur Ros. In Heima(which is a documentary of their free of charge shows in Iceland) they played acoustically one of their songs as a protest towards a dam that was going to destroy Icelands only lowland. That perfomance was very powerful! The wind stopped during the play as it was listening to them. sadly the dam was built and very beautiful and pristine wilderness got destroyed. Sad..

Here is a video of that touching performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e49jbKcwuic

I like Sigur Ros too Gadina. Heima is amazing. Gorgeous captivating documentary
Their music is almost ethereal and the film really showcases the beauty of Iceland
Don't you love all the families and children especially that you could see just adored the music and were mesmerized smile.gif

Yeah, it was so nice to see families curled up together and listening, I mean really listening to them play. I bet it would have been very spiritual experience.

Thank you for linking the nice video. Maybe it helps, if many prominent Icelanders draw the attention to this nature-destroing-problem... Anyhow music from Iceland has something mysterious, hasn't it? No miracle even streets are diverted there, so that no elf's hills are destroyed! This was sometimes so there...*sniff*

Your country is FUCKED. A government collapsing like that isn't something common. I think any fear of global warming up there just got shot to shit.

And then you guys put a homo in charge of everything. Could be the root of the problems, eh?

Gadina is right to try to stay positive. What happened in Iceland is terrible. It is concerning with protests in France and Russia about job loss and the economy. People are concerned in our country as our govt is spending more money than all the wars combined in a short amount of time to try and stimulate the economy and create jobs. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out and stay strong. Humans are resiliant by nature and pull together in difficult times

Yes, you both are right. I am, actually, an optimistic person (hey who laughs there?), but if I see the news every day, I already ask myself what may still come here and I feel very helpless. But, yes, difficult times people weld together, this is a damned good argument!!
Hey, Gadina, maybe love is the answer... smile.gif

I don't watch the news. I might check the latest headlines from the net but that's it. Too much bad stuff..
