On December 31st, 1993, a few babies were born in California. One of them was Friend, my best friend in the whole universe. This is her story. Friend lead a fairly normal life. During summer of 5th grade, she was forced to move from California to Washington. She was into anime, which made it hard for her in middle school. She was constantly teased at school for liking such things, and desperately sought consolance. Being born on new years day, the friends that she had never were able to come to her birthday. The internet was the only thing she had. All of her friends were older than her, because she was very mature for her age. The only friend she had in middle school was a girl named Pal; she is my sister. Friend and I were introduced at Pal's 12th birthday party, and had been friends ever since. I sincerely thank Pal for uniting us. Pal and I were the only real friends in Friend's life now. We always came to her birthday, and still do, every year. Friend was happy now, except for one thing; I was two years younger than her, and Pal was one year older. Friend had us as friends, but was still bullied in school, and accused of being a 'freak'. Pal had now moved on to High School, but on the bright side, I was now attend the same middle school as Friend. Friends favorite band was, and still is, 30 seconds to mars. Jared Leto was, and still is, her male role-model. She has no female role-model. That's when Friend met Buddy, over a fan-made roleplaying game. They instantly became friends, despite their age difference. Buddy is 21, and Friend is 14 (15 tomorrow). Buddy was the nicest, and most honest man that Friend had ever met, and they talked over the phone as much as they could. It didn't take long for their friendship to progress into a lovers' relationship. Buddy and I became friends over time, as well. Friend had met Amigo over the roleplaying game, as well. (This was both his and my plan to get Friend's thoughts straightened out). I had no idea what was going on until a few weeks ago. During my 13th birthday party, I had noticed that she wasn't acting like her normal self. When I asked what was wrong, Friend asked me if we could talk privately. So we sat next to each other on my bed, when she told me everything that had happened. It tore me apart to see Friend like that. She almost broke down crying, which wasn't like her at all. I had found out that Buddy had been sexually abusing Friend, as well as making her preform sexual acts in front of her webcam; he told her that he would commit suicide if she didn't do what he wanted. Of course she wouldn't let him do that, for even though she knew that he was manipulating her, Friend still loved Buddy. Amigo and I have both tried to convince her to just not do as he wanted; because we knew that he was bluffing. We were recently brain storming ways to get through to her, but none seemed possible, besides one. If we could get Jared Leto to at least try and convince her, whether over email, or phone, she might actually listen. That's why I plead to you; If you know Jared's e-mail address, please send him this story. It breaks me to see Friend like this.
Sincerely,
R.W.

If it's not true, then it's sad that you can make this up.

When people are in their teens, their parents have a lot less influence on them. They actually listen more to their peers and other rolemodels (like actors, musicians, sportsmen) then to their parents.

That's very possibly true (though I know plenty of teens for whom that does not apply and they usually have very open parents who won't judge everything they do) but in this case the likelihood of Jared stepping in and saving her from her predicament is pretty freaking slim so if her friend really does care what happens she'll head to an authority figure near them and get her friend away from that abusive webcam pervert. If that's not the girl's parents then a teacher, police officer, doctor, anyone. But waiting for Jared to do it and asking strangers on the internet is the same as doing nothing.

Yeah - if this story is true at all (and I have my doubts) I'm with TeachJoanne. Why telling the story to total strangers - spread on a huge forum - asking for another total stranger to contact the "friend". Why not seak for real help (either family, relatives, teachers, sozialworkers etc.) Asking Jared to be the "saint/redeemer whatever" is as unreal and unrealistic as that "friend" already seems to be. That's no help at all. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but this really isn't good for that girl - there have to be real actions taken to help her in the long term.

Absolutely. And that a 13 year old girl has an account on the 30STM forum and her parents have no clue (I assume).

Either way, no one is going to give out Jared Leto's email address to strangers.

I say go ahead. And I'm afraid that's the only thing that will help. I am not being a smart ass. I am being a high school teacher who sees this more often than I would care to.
This is a very real possibilty. But consider this: her not hating you and continuing the way she is. Her not hating you and dying. Which is more important? And I can categorically state that if she is really your friend and knows you love her as such, she will forgive you, once she's gotten the appropriate help.
Do you care more if he dies or she dies?
scepticism
And if you really care about her, drop the Jared Will Save Her crap and contact the police, a doctor or someone else who could make a difference. If that's beyond your realm of possibilities in any way, yes my scepticism grows and I don't believe you are her friend at all.

I'm sorry... how exactly is that a valid post? It's not a funny subject, nor is that relavent. It's extremely insensitive.

I'm not a big fan of highschool teachers, because the ones I've had are generally rather rude, but you're making excellent sense. You're not sounding like a smartass, or anything.. thank you very much. It's not that we're relying on Jared, it's more that we're trying to get someone that she'll actually listen to tell her that she's being... not really "stupid," but... that she's not thinking straight. I've saved the guy's address, and his full name, so I'll report him... hopefully before it's too late... I'm just afraid she'll kill herself if he gets reported... not to meantion he'll probably come after her... but you're right..

As usual, I am glad I am right and I will add this:
Even if Jared did step in and even if she did leave the guy she is with now, she's gotten into a pattern and it wouldn't take long before another guy took advantage of her. She *needs* guidance. She *needs* someone to talk to outside of her social setting and family ties. If she doesn't get that. Forget it. She's a lost cause.
Report this guy but also make sure she has a big ass safety net of councellors and guidance officials. You cannot save her. You can help support her. Make sure the people trained to save her are there to catch her though and it'll be better odds for her.
