I know these question have been asked before but this is such a long time ago... maybe things have changed...

Where do you get your inspiration from to create a new song?
Is it like going shopping for food... you see something... I donīt know a cheesecake for example and then you think about what effect it had on your life? Or is it completely different?

How does the recording work?
Does anyone of you humming a melody or do you actually write down the notes? And what is happening then? Do you lock yourselves up in a studio and everyone plays his instrument until you get a actual melody?

I know you canīt tell us everything... that would be way too much. I only want to get a glimpse on how you work things out without having a fight with you band members wink.gif

@Sil: Isnīt that it what we discussed a few weeks ago? smile.gif

More questions from other users in this thread:

From J30STM:
Is Tim gonna be the one laying down the bass lines on the master or will it be Jared or maybe another guest musician?

And I am very interested in the technical parts of the recording process, so I would welcome any insights in the matter

With the revival of the old record player, will you consider putting out the new record on vinyl as well? I know you did with the others, but only a certain amount was actually printed I believe.

What instrument gets recorded first, is it the back beat to the song like drums or bass? Or is the order in which you record the instruments of no importance to the process?

How do you determine when a song/album is really finished to go to the process of mastering. Based on gut feeling you get from listening or a check list that's marked of?

Do you guys use a working title while recording?

At what stage in the process is the real title chosen?

What "qualifications" does a song need to have, to make the cut to becoming an album title?

After this bit that you guys posted in your Holiday message, I am curious to know, if this affects your recording process at all.
Is the fact that it's your own, change anything in the feeling you have during recording or doing certain stuff in a different way.
Have you added equipment that you missed using on previous albums?

heh, heh! I wondered about that too - nothing can stop the flow of creative juices more than stress & unwanted aggravation....although maybe it's also grist to the mill...?

well you don't really need a record company to record a record... although it might be "helpful" to have a record company when releasing a record unsure.gif

Thanks wink.gif They keep popping up in my head, so I have some more. I like this section, even more if we get answers.
Updating the first post would be easier in the end.

Who pays for the studio time? The producers? The equipment? All the other things that are associated with recording a new album?

I highly doubt that Jared would be forking over his own cash smile.gif

Which is not that expensive, by the way.
Nowadays, almost everyone can create a decent studio. So figure having more possibilities that a common person.

Don't know if you're addressing that to the band or not, but it's a case by case basis. If a band pays for their own studio time, good on them, if they have their own studio, even better. If their label pays for it, it has to be paid back according to the number of sales of the album when it is released, sometimes paid back in full.
