Not unless you have some amazingly good sound editing programs, no - you can't separate out the tracks.

you know it is so weird you ask that because i too am doing some project with a few songs and all days i was searching the net for how to remove music from a song. sadly the only thing i could find was the opposite, how to remove vocals. which i already know how to do, and it almost never works the right way anyway since vocals only are almost never alone and on a center channel. ok trailing off, sorry. basically, i use adobe audition (and i have audiocity but thats ehhhhh) and would love to know the same thing as well.. so if anyone has any info or knows which direction to point us in, im sure we will both be very thankful!

I have Cool Edit Pro, but it can only be done if the vocals and the music/beat are in different channels. You can see if they are in CEP. But its very rare wink.gif

Its one of the more intelligent threads here in the Pantheon. Surely someone who does their own sound engineering can offer a suggestion? We DO have plenty of muso's here.

I've been trying some stuff (because i want to be able to do this too) but i now only have the music, and the vocals are very soft... blink.gif
So i guess i can also cut out the music...

yea its very odd. i picked a sample song to play with, inverted it and all to get the vocals as low as i could, then inverted THAT and put it against the original to see if that may possibly work, but it didnt. im not really too good with all this stuff and i wanted to mail my mom a cd with all her old school doo wop songs but acapella. she likes that kinda stuff. thought id be a cool little suprise for her but cant figure this out... i'll try to play around more tonight when i get home from work...
