PARENTS, YOUR KID MIGHT BE EMO

My only problem with this story is that they are saying that kids who wear black and eyeliner are Emo and that it is directly responsible for self harming and suicide. Looks to me like they are almost trying to make Emo a scapegoat for other problems. If you are going to kill it is because you have deep-seeded problems, you are not going to do it just because a song told you to. People have been wearing black and eyeliner for years, suicide and self harming has been going on for years and suddenly this is all happening because kids are turning Emo? That doesn't quite work for me.
I listen to a lot of 'Emo bands' but I would not class myself as one, so this is not a defence of something that I am into, just of something I find unfair.

I was emo before the word emo was associated with these kids.

Thank you.
One other point i forgot to put in.
Emo stands for Emotional well in that case everyone in the whole f*~king world is emo because i have never come across a human who is a robot and has no feelings. I appoligise for the rant but people always have to blame anything other than themselves.
I'M EXTREMELY EMO right now!

Quite often because they don't want to admit the kids are self harming because they are being abused at home.

I also agree with you on this one
I have SOOOO many thoughts on 'emo' and what it is, but I think I may just go on and on and bore you all!
So i'll just say, emo is probably dead. It probably died back in the mid-90's. Nowadays, it's just scene kids, posers and wannabes walking around. (Well, that's what it's like over here in England!)
That's referring to emo as a sort of...style. But if you're referring to it as 'emotional,' what it really stands for, then yes, everyone is emo!

Goths are depressed and sensitive too.
That "news report" is the most ridiculous thing that I have seen lately. They're taking all the shit they find on the internet so seriously. Quiz? Woosh, its a joke.

One of my stepkids dated a cutter, she wasn't "emo", but the child of super repressed religious fanatics.
I got a feeling that every generation back to caveman days had some fear about a "cult" that their kids belonged to.

Clearly, you don't watch the news.
... Or read the guardian.
