Well I never posted a thread for this considering the past couple of years there's been only 2 or 3 of us off here who actually go to it (30 Seconds to Mars weren't playing over here then......coincidental? ). However now there's quite a few more people it would seem.

Discussion on 30 Seconds to Mars here and their gig will be inevitable, as they are a band like any other but the purpose of this thread is for the rest of the bands and the festival in general.

For the sake of of writing them, the bold ones are the bands I'm actually bothered about seeing and 13/100 for this festival is actually good for me . Although there's a few others I'd be interested to see like My Vitriol, Manson, Cult of Luna and Fair to Midland and most probably will ended up seeing a few more random bands in between drinking lots of water (if it's anything like last year's hell on earth... ), running (or even casually strolling) between stages and taking lots of demented photos.

I actually quite like a spin off band of Cult of Luna called Khoma who are on their top friends list, it's pretty much some of the same band.

Just to clarify though, I never mean and intentional personal offense by such a statement.........I'm just so used to saying it hehe. If I was being deadly serious though......they really should not be headlining and that is nothign to do with my personal preference.

Oh no man....not my place at all. Reading has even more idiots than you would get at a palce like Download......and it's quite clear that a generalisation like that can be made fairly and openly To be honest in a lot of ways neither is Download. I'd probably feel more at home at a Euroepean festival like Wacken in Germany or Hellfest in France......but I guess that's largely down to the band sthat play there. However I have been pleasantly surprised this year. There's always a few each year that I'm really into like last year with Opeth, Dredg and Strapping Young Lad (amongst some others), generally though I'm not into most of the bands who play here. I go for the insanity.
This year is the best for me...with some real surprises like a certain band in my signature (as in Porcupine Tree), Anathema, After Forever, Turisas and somewhat Dream Theater. I like surprises.

The funny thing is that Korn will suddenly feel like they are being worshipped considering out of the 80,000 people (a rough estimate) there, the majoirity of the people with a dislike for MCR will be Korning it up on the second stage. Actually wait a second.......there's another thing. I'm not into Korn but they should be headlinign the main stage with MCR doing the 2nd. Personally I think the organsiers have over estimated the popularity of them without taking into consideration the overall sort of people who go to this festival.
Then they start panciking about people throwing bottles at the band. It's a joke
I've said it before, but in some sort of twisted way I feel sorry for MCR...

You should be up front with me for PT and Anathema. Maiden I'd imagine we'd be slightly further back. I've fought before to get to the front of TOOL's gig at Wembley Arena, but getting to the front of 80,000 people (see above ) is slightly harder...

However in reality I know what you really REALLY want to see is 30 Seconds to Mars do a certain cover song. Well considering the "other" band is there....I know what your heart truly desires is another rendition of the MCR track I'm not ok (I promise) with a bonus duet of Gerard Way with Jared Leto.
Come on, admit it......that would send shivers through your body......

Tool- i agree! Even though i only saw half their set because i was watching someone on the snickers stage....cant remember who :S

And yes i think korn should be headliners rather than MCR it just kinda fits that way....i dont see how korn last year were on the mainstage (even though jonathon davis was ill) and now its like they have been demoted to a smaller stage it doesnt make sense. i think youre absoloutley right the organisers have underestimated this year!
