Also, I'm pretty sure Nada Surf is still signed to Barsuk anyway.

i just copy pasted the list from wikipedia...i didn't fact check the bands...BUT since the label is folding...if any of the bands released any albums on V2 then the the rights would be up for grabs...because V2 let go all of their bands and they want to work on releasing new gospel music

I know Over It supported the Goo Goo Dolls recently, but they're a bit sucky. One of the bands that will probably struggle to get a new major label.

Dope has been one of my biggest guilty pleasures for ever. I know their music is not exactly on par with the greats, but fuck it, I have always liked them.
Oh wellz.

everyone got booted too
a long time label person I know lost her job with them
I hear the whole thing is messy
I hope Akaline Trio and other bands with upcoming releases get picked up quickly
it has to be discouraging for them

apparently the only thing that was kept on the label was the rights to the white stripes' back catalog
and it is sad that your aquaintence lost her job with them
i personally think the label was heading for trouble from the get go...which is why sir richard branson sold it to artemis
also...alkaline trio's next album was all b-sides and rarities...so its getting released under vagrant (as that was the bands label since they moved from asian man records in mid to late 2000)

alkaline trio signed with V2 to get off of vagrant...i'd be surprised if they go back (unless the only reason they left vagrant was because v2 was offering them a ton more money)

There's no bad blood with Vagrant. Crimson completed their contract and Remains was an extra they decided to stay with Vagrant on. The choice to move to v2 was just for a change. I don't know if they would go back to Vagrant but they might if another opportunity doesn't arise. They recently lost the producer to their new album so they have some time to think things over.

i kinda figured that remains was on vagrant because the majority of the content were b-sides from albums that were recorded for vagrant (and thus vagrant would have the rights to them)
unforrunatly they seemed to have scrapped the idea of reissuing goddamnit! with weak week as a bonus track on it...or at least that info is no longer on their wikipedia page...which is sad because i would love to have a remastered or rerecorded version of the song

Unfortunatly the general concencous on the goddamnit rerelease is don't hold your breath and the idea of a new version of weak week may not have been much more than speculation/high hopes. Damn.
