I fucking hate Green Day now. I used to love them but they just became horribly overplayed and overated. I can stand some of their older stuff but nothing off of American Idiot. It's a shame it had to happen.

do you not remeber when "longview" was released? or "good riddance (time of your life)" those songs and countless more were everywhere mtv, radio, billboards, etc. it seems people hate green day now, because of american idiot. you should not hate a band because one album they made, take their whole discogrophy in account.

and who cares if they were eyeliner? it shouldn't make a difference in their music. and besides they are still good people and musicians.

and i have known that there were gonna make a new cd for like a year now.

I liked them when I was younger, but their image has been highly overrated with American Idiot. I still think they put on a good live show, but the last one I went to last year had so many stupid wanna-be punk kids and teenyboppers there for Billie Joe that I wanted to vomit.

I really dislike green day--and any band that conveys their political ideas through music. If I care who you were voting for, I'd ask. But I don't, so play your songs and stop cramming your stupid liberal agenda down my throat.

i'll be simple:

i used to like them a lot. now, i wish they had never even formed. i'm the only person i know who doesnt own "american idiot" and i'm proud of it because they are extremely overrated now and all the promo american idiot got made me want to puke. i mean, honestly, do they really need their own fucking week on FUSE? That sent me over the edge. When they were on KROQ's best bands of all time as number 1, i got so pissed that my friend (obsessed with them) stopped talking to me for a couple months. i kid you not. i hate this band

if they sold out it was when the made dookie and from then on. and the that reason was mostly for distrubution purposes. and the way they were marketed was because of the record label. do you actually think he wants to be in those on billboards, in those teeny-bopper magazines, etc.? honestly, he's not a pervert like that. he's in a happy marriage to his high-school sweetheart and it seems like he is a good dad.

their american idiot cd, isn't as bad as most poeple with a negative atitude torwards them think. no, it isn't their best album but it that doesn't mean its shit. heaven forbid they try something else, thinks outside the box. and did you know how hard it was for him to take a chance and do something like that? he knew it was gonna be make it or break it. and it almost cost him his marriage. he poured his heart and soul into that, in some performances you can see tears in his eyes when he sings wake me up when... cuz that song is about his father dying from cancer. and the album is actually a story, its not all political. its a concept album. there is two songs that stray from the story in american idiot and wake me up...

billie joe is a good lyrcist, a kickass performer, clever, outspoken, has a good attitude, doesn't care what people think, passionate, and funny. his outspokeness is good wether its poplitical or not, it means he's not scared to say/sing about how feels and he's passionate about the subject. after all isn't music about opinions and feelings? and isn't punk about being political? to be on a major label, to have 5 successful albums, win grammies, and countless hit songs most require some talent. so what makes you say they don't have ANY talent at all?

You know, I actually think that American Idiot is the best stuff they've released since Dookie. I own Dookie, though it's one of those CDs that EVERYONE from my generation owns. Kind of like Sublime's S/T.

However, I will never claim that they are an awesome band. They just have a knack for creating catchy melodies, and that's about as far as it goes.
