I went yesterday not knowing that Jared wasn’t going to be there until about an hour before they let us in. Needless to say, there was a lot of unhappy people. sad.gif I still stayed for the show and had a great time.

I understand, things happen. People get “sick” or just have scheduling conflicts. But the thing that irritates me the most is this… I just watched the Jimmy Kimmel show from Monday night (I TiVo it every night and watch it the next day) and when Jimmy announced who was going to be on Tuesday night, he did not say Jared Leto. He said the kid from High School Musical. So, that means that they knew on Monday that he had cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell US? The FANS. The ones that were coming from all over the globe to see Jared and 30STM two nights in a row. I met a girl that flew in from TX, several people from San Francisco and a group from Japan! They planned to be here just for these two shows and now they won’t see either.

I still have my ticket in hand for the Friday show and all I can do is HOPE HOPE HOPE that it will actually happen. It seems odd that they would cancel the Sunday because Jared can’t sing, but still perform on Friday??

If this is reaching anyone that actually KNOWS some FACTS on this, we would be greatly appreciative if you passed that info on to us. Thank you kindly. biggrin.gif

Jared has strep throat and had to cancel the San Francisco concert a few days ago. Strep is pretty serious and he is doing his best to take care of himself so that they can get back on tour. Not to mention the fact that strep is contagious initially. unsure.gif

Actually if you glanced around the forum you would have found a few threads already related to the Jimmy Kimmel performances - and the facts surrounding the rescheduled appearance. The band sent out an email and posted a blog on their myspace page trying to get the word out about the change. It was a last minute thing due to Jared's illness and they did the best they could to let people know.

I'm sorry that you and others didn't find out about the cancellation until you got there. I'm sure that it was disappointing.

Yes, GarnetJ, like I said above, I understand. The main point of my message was to find out if the Friday show is still on. It would be weird if they cancelled Jared on Tuesday and the band on Sunday but not Friday. Ya know? I have a life (sort of) and would like to make other plans if they aren't going to show.

They moved the band performance from tonight to friday, hoping that Jared is feeling better by then. If they do have to cancel again, we probably won't know until tomorrow at the earliest.

keep your fingers crossed. biggrin.gif

PROVEHITO IN ALTUM

THIRTYSECONDSTOMARS

Originally Jared was going to appear last night and the band was going to appear tonight. That was all shifted to just one appearance on Friday, May 5th.

With strep, Jared probably won't be feeling 100%, but he wouldn't be contagious anymore and he will have had several days worth of antibiotics to help him kick it. So unless he takes an unexpected turn for the worse, I would say that the show will go on.

As for your comment about having a life and wanting to make other plans if they aren't going to show - trust me when I say that Jared is probably just as frustrated as you are that he got sick. This is a little outside of their control. This wasn't a double-booking or some error that led to a cancellation - it is a serious illness that hit him at a bad time. I understand that you are disappointed, but cut the guy, and the band, a little slack.

The thing about Jared's "job" is the pressure and demand to BE THERE. He can't just take a block of time and designate it "sick time", he's got the band and Lonely Hearts to promote. His isn't a regular job, where you can call in sick day by day and it won't matter so much. How many of you have ever called in sick to work or school and said, "I think I'll be better tommorrow" thinking that you would and discovering that, lo...you were still sick as a dog.

A big part of that is pressure IS the knowledge that people have come from all over to see them/him. So he is going to try to keep to the schedule as much as possible. Maybe this is a mistake, but he has pushed himself hard and would have continued if he could have. Imagine the pressure he is under. "Riot, riot, riot" ring a bell?

On the other hand, while I am very impressed that people would come from all over, it is a risk. It's happened to me, too...and it sucks, but I knew I was taking a risk.

Then again...30STM has never pulled stunts like Guns and Roses did on a regular basis, like just not going on stage at the last minute. (on second thought I take that back, there was the "Jared Leto's band" stuff back in the day). Never liked that band anyway, but they (and some others) were notorious for pulling out of gigs at the very last second (like after James Hetfield from Metallica got badly burned from a pyro on stage. Axl refused to go on after...if I remember right, there was a bit of a REAL riot that night.)

Just don't go all Wallyworld... wink.gif

I was disappointed too but I've had strep and it's horrible. So knowing that I would have to talk on television or sing while I not only feel like crap but also have no energy I can't blame him or anyone doing that. I can only think that if he kept singing or talking that it would just add on and it would take longer to get better.

I was just mad that the show had a person from High School Musical. I seem to be the only person who hates that movie. Haha.

To show how serious streptococcus can be...when I was in 2nd grade I had a bad case of scarlet fever. At the same time, all my first molar teeth were coming in. Because of the illness, the teeth were very week and I have had to have two taken out and will probably lose the other two at a pretty young age. Strep IS very bad news and can have long term effects

Though on the bright side it does give me a place to park my tongue when I need to hold it. tongue.gif

Wow, I think I was a little misunderstood. mellow.gif I wasn't attacking Jared or the band in any way. Apparently I must repeat myself again... I understand. I’ve been going to live shows for about 15 years now. I know that things happen that are out of anyone’s control (i.e. illness) and shows get cancelled or postponed all the time. That's life. I get it. Believe me.

All I'm asking is that we be told when things get cancelled, if at all possible. If the show knew on Monday, it would have been nice if they changed it on their site. That's all I'm saying.

Please don't feel that you have to defend the band. I'm a huge fan, just like you, and I'm not at all angry at them.

And if Jared is well enough to perform on Friday, that will be awesome and I'll be there, happily. biggrin.gif If not, I wish him a speedy recovery and I’ll see them next time.

Yeah, I'm sorry that I snapped at you. We had some people come in here griping about the fact that they cancelled the San Francisco show because of being sick, and others griping that he hadn't canceled the Sacramento show because he didn't have much of a voice. mad.gif It was frustrating.

My advice would be to check in here if possible on Thursday or ealy in the day on Friday just to make sure there aren't any updates. If someone sees/hears something, they will post it in here. For instance, there was someone who posted yesterday afternoon confirming that Jared wouldn't be there last night since they passed by the Jimmy Kimmel studio and saw the sign posted. And if we get anything via email or see a blog/bulletin on their myspace page, that is usually brought in here as well.

But just keep your fingers crossed that all will go well for Friday! Even though I can't be there (due to all of those pesky miles between Michigan and LA) - I'm looking forward to watching it on tv. Tell us how it is afterwards!

I totally agree with cin. On Monday, when the Jimmy Kimmel show knew Jared woudl not be on the show on Tuesday, they should have change the website information on Monday. mad.gif Before I left home on Tuesday morning, I checked the site, for any information (were there any changes) for Jared's apperance on the show. Nothing was mentioned, I only found out in LA, after waited in the line for an hour or so. sad.gif I wanted to leave (go back home) then (when I found out that Jared would not be on the show), but I did not have enough time to get back to the airport to catch the last flight back to Texas. So I had to stay in LA (Hollywood). I stayed for the show and I had a OK time. But it was not what I expected to see. Today I took the first flight back and just arrived home 3 hours ago. See, if Iota had changed their website information for the show in timely manner, many us could have avoided frastrating situation.
