I am working on an assignment regarding walking and film. I was wondering if I could get a sampling from you guys of any memorable scenes where people are walking. The walking needs to be integral to the scene importance-wise.

So...

name me some scenes, if you please. smile.gif

What about the old Hulk movie where the guy is hitch hiking off into the distance?

Ya know, the one that Stewie did on that one episode of Family Guy that I can't remember.

saturday night fever, the opening of john travolta strutting down the street. cinema gold!

can you use running? such as drew barrymore running away from ghost face in the opening of scream.

jodie foster walking down the hallway of the asylum in silence of the lambs - thats a very integral part of the movie.

stand by me - the four guys walking on the train tracks

hope that helps smile.gif

let me know if you need anymore

So long since I've seen it, but Shindlers list for me. The girl in the little red coat walking in a sea of black and white.
Good luck, hun!

Before Sunrise and the sequel Before Sunset with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy...all they do is walk though Vienna in the first and Paris in the second whilst having a conversation.

Also Gerry...with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck...two guys walking in the desert - barely any dialogue..warning rent at own risk as you may die of boredom...interesting plot twist at the end though.

reservoir dogs. In the begining when the whole crew is walkinging in black suits and the mexican music playing in the background....thats classic. "The Right Stuff" where the crew of the space ship is walking to the rocket...classic also. "Dead Poets Society" when they walk and start conforming to eachothers steps and then robin williams has them walk as individuals...not realy a classic but it fits the assignment.

Um... off the top of my head how about the following scenes:

i) The Sound of Music - the last scene where the family are walking over the Alps to freedom

ii) Lord of the Rings - Frodo and Sam *walk* to Mordor and to Mount Doom

iii) Cleopatra - I realise that technically she is on a platform and being carried for most of the scene but Cleopatra's entrance into Rome and walking to meet Caesar with their young son Caesarion

iv) Wizard of Oz - Dorothy and co. walk along the Yellow Brick Road

v) Forrest Gump - in his jogging phase (if you allow running as well as walking) from one coast of America to the other end and then back again

vi) Hannibal Brooks - WW2 movie where Oliver Reed's character walks an elephant from a zoo where he was detailed to work as a POW to freedom and safety in neutral territory

vii) Any scene where a prisoner is being escorted to be given the death sentence - the end of Angels With Dirty Faces springs to mind

viii) Mary Poppins - going for a walk in a chalk painting is fairly memorable *g*

ix) Stargate (the movie) - the first time the team walks through the Stargate and into the unknown

x) Return of the Jedi - the palpable sense of 'omfg he's here!' the first time we see the Emperor walking out of his shuttle at the start of the movie

and I think I'll head back to lurkerdom from geekdom *g*

This was the first thing that popped into my head actually hehe...but didn't post it as thought it's not strictly walking......so I backed up "walking the mile" aka The Green Mile biggrin.gif

YESSS. The Reservoir Dogs bit is one I definitely was thinking of using if only 'cause I've seen it parodied and all. Thanks!

Hehe Considering it's me LOTR and SW are prolly gonna be in there. biggrin.gif Thanks for your suggestions though. They were some I hadn't thought of like The Sound of Music, which I listen to a lot more than I care to admit haha, and Wizard of Oz, which was my favourite movie for years as a child. Thank you thank you thank you to all for your help!

Well, it's not actually a walking scene, but what about in the Breakfast Club where everyone is running around trying to avoid the principal. It's like the major bonding experience where they all have the same goal in mind, not to get caught. Plus, I find it hilarious that ali sheedy is just walking along while everyone else is running, and such. biggrin.gif
