So, Richard Patrick has finally announced what he's been doing for the past 3 or so years. Apparently, he's joined forces with STP (obviously minus Scott Weiland) and the new band's name is Army of Anyone. They're going to be releasing their first CD in early 2006. Personally, I'm pretty fucking stoked!

I had heard about this awhile back now.. I'm happy to see Richie doing something and hopefully he stays on track. I loved Filter but before he went into rehab, he was totally out of control.

I'm also happy to see Ray Luzier on drums. I met him with the Nixons and he's just wonderful.

Yeah there have been rumors flying around that Richard was playing with the DeLeo's for a while, but this is the first official piece of news that has been released to the public about what's been going on. So...it's AWESOME to finally hear some real news so I can take a step back from the rumor mill for a while. Can't wait to hear some of this new music!!

I had seen something hmmm about two weeks ago that Richie had posted about this. MTV finally did the "official" thing though. I'm very happy for him. He's very talented. I really do miss Filter. It was great to see Geno with Chevelle.

yeah I'm a big fan of Richard Patrick...should be good, although I'm not a big Stone Temple Pilots fan...who knows, maybe the chemistry will be just right.

Shame Filter is no more though

I heard that Ken Andrews (Year of the Rabbit and Failures Old lead Singer) was working on the filter's new album too. Do you think they meant he was working on this one?

Where did you see that? He just updated the Rich Words on Filter's website a few days ago...

Knowing how much of a control freak Rich tends to be, I doubt it will sound bad. He's quite good at what he does. And Filter isn't no more...it's just on the back-burner for now. Rich said that he plans on releasing all the material he was working on for Filter's 4th album sometime in the not-so-distant future. He was about 90% finished with the new album before he started jamming with the DeLeo's.

Now if only Zach De La Rocha would tell the world what the fuck he's been up to.

seems like everyone does this nowadays? i guess its the "IN" thing to do...
IE... audioslave, velvet revolver, now this...blah

the last audioslave album kinda blew a big one...the first one kicked ass though. and velvet revolver is just kinda bland as well.

Well, I was never a huge fan of RATM...but Velvet Revolver sucks because Guns 'n Roses sucked. STP and Filter were both great bands, so I'm thrilled to see what kind of music they come up with, especially because Rich was Filter. So he's much more than just a vocalist.

And I totally disagree with what you said about Rich turning into a wuss as time went on...I couldn't disagree with you more.

GUNS N ROSES SUCKED?!?! oh my god dude...ok maybe you can say you dont like them...but they cant suck. look at their stats? they are probably the biggest band of the 80s. they made some masterpeices...like november rain. im not really into GNR but fuck dude they were huge. what constitutes a band to suck? just because you dont like them?

but i am glad that you are happy for this new band...i'm just a little disappointed with this approach to make new bands from the previous bands. its not really working...i mean the formula on paper would seem like it would work...but for the most part it doesnt...but who knows maybe army of anyone will break the cycle. Richie isnt much more then a vocalist btw--he played guitar in NIN wippty doo. anyone can play guitar in NIN haha that doesnt make him a good musician.
but who cares...opinions are like assholes everyones got one. but my "opinions" are usually based on general facts...not just my personal preferences.

Guns N Roses sucked. If you've heard anything other than their hit singles, you'd agree with me I'm sure. Well, unless you've heard their TERRIBLE rendition of McCartney's "Live and Let Die"...that offers a little bit more perspective into their realm of suckiness. Linkin Park is huge too, but are they good? Hell no- they stick to the same formula more than boy-bands did.

Rich wrote just about every note of the music in Filter. He is much more than a vocalist.
