Anyone have any tips for washing signed t-shirts?

I have a 30stm shirt that I got signed about 2 years ago and I've only actually worn it twice because I'm afraid to wash it. I want to wear it more, so is there anything special I can do, or will it even come out? I'm assuming it was done with permanent marker?

P.S. Wouldn't you rather smell than ruin your shirt?

I would.

I´ve washed mine...if its done with a permanent marker, it should be alright.

Cold water, just a few soap (i don't kow how you say that in english), and, before and after... use a "domestic iron" (google gave me this translation) without vapor.

I wondered as well...figured I would simply never wash it! Handwash with a capful of woolite (or something gentle) and it should be AOK then. Bless you!

My grandma says that if you soak the shirt in salt water that it will "set" the permanent marker into the fabric.

Then turn it inside out and wash in cold water only. Hand washing is an option as well.

Seems to work for my shirts.

If fading occurs I just retrace their siggys.
Nice that they are easy sigs.

My 2 cents.

I think I need to agree with Tomasz on this one. Just spray it with frebreeze and hang it up to air out. I wouldn't wash it. No matter what you do the signature is going to fade if you wash it. Even in woolite. Go smelly or not at all lol

I want to wash mine too its spattered with pepsi on the back from getting caught in a Pepsi fight at the may Jacksonville show, the white patch has brown spots. Hand wash would my guess.
