Would I like The MArs Volta? I've never heard them before, but I've heard good things about them.

I'm considering buying an album, but I hardly ever do that (I did it with 30STM after only hearing Capricorn on DirecTV's rock music station.)

Should I?

Also, this is a bit off-topic, but I've also heard good things about Laguna Coil.

If anyone has any input on either, it'd be great. I need something to hold me over until "A Beautiful Lie".

Personally, I'm not a fan of TMV. The singer is a bit on the weird side.

To each his own, I mean both those bands have beautiful singers, but you should listen to samples online and decide for yourself. Its hard to ask others, we all have different tastes.

I've heard a couple songs by TMV that I really liked. If I'm not mistaken, the whole cd is based on their friend's suicide, etc. Or maybe that's just what inspired the songs. There is one song by them that I absolutely love....but I can't remember what it's called.

I dig Lacuna Coil; this might turn you off, but they remind me of Evanesence...in a good way though. I loved Evanesence for the first week they were on the radio, but now they're played out. I don't think I'll ever get sick of Lacuna Coil though. I'd recommend the album "Comalies," the 2nd track (Heaven's a Lie) on that album, is SOOOO good. biggrin.gif

I don't think they sound like Led Zeppelin! O.O;;;

But I've only heard one song, and i'm not even sure if that's them or not - though pretty sure. They're okay... I believe them to be overrated a tad, but like I said, I can't honestly say.

If you'd like, you can browse all my music over aim/soulseek[krystiana] for something to keep you occupied until then. i have laguna coil - but no mars volta. :X i should invest in some.

Everytime I hear TMV I think of the band RUSH. For some reason that's who they remind me of. I like RUSH. They kick ass-TOM SAWYER baby!

I tried a few TMV songs, and didn't really like them at all. The vocals didn't really fly with me. It all sounded a bit too emo, and I can't stand emo.

However, I tried out Lacuna Coil, and I really digged them. The song "Swamped" is really good. I've heard their genre is "goth metal", whatever that is. I'm not goth, but they sound awesome.

@bch2424: No, actually I really dig Evanescence. Amy Lee has an awesome voice. I'm burnt out on their "Fallen" album though, and that's all they really have to offer right now.

I don't like Led Zeppelin, too...<.<

Mhm, Lacuna Coil is okay, but in my opinion their music isn't similar to TSTM at all.
Lacuna Coil is pretty organic, melodic Metal. They have a female singer called Christina Scabbia. They're definetely surfing on the ''Metal-bands-with-beautiful-female-singers''-wave, but their music is unique.
My favourite song is ''Purify''.
